Big K.R.I.T. Rocks New York City

Big K.R.I.T has had a big week and on Thursday night he celebrated with a few hundred of his closet fans at the jam-packed Highline Ballroom in New York City. On Monday (March 5) the Meridian, Mississippi producer/MC released his 4Eva N A Daymixtape to much fanfare, then last night he returned to NYC with an energetic and spirited set.

It was almost 10 p.m. when K.R.I.T. took the stage with his hype man Big Sant and DJ Wally Sparks. Krizzle opened up with the inspirational “Boobie Miles” from his new tape. Immediately after he launched into “Return of 4eva” from his break out K.R.I.T. Wuz Heremixtape/album. Feeling triumphant after the song, K.R.I.T. stood front and center on the stage and yelled out, “ How many of y’all downloaded 4Eva N A Day in this mother—er,” before he went into the tape’s title track.

Surprisingly the crowd took to the new material rather well, in most cases reciting the new tracks word-for-word, a particularly impressive feat considering the tape is only a few days old. “1986,” the ode to K.R.I.T.’s birth year also went over well.

The southern MC did a great job mixing his soulful, down tempo tracks, with his jump-up-and-down rambunctious material. His hour-long set was engaging throughout. There was the catchy “Rotation” and the somber “Highs & Lows,” both equally as captivating. The crowd put their hands in the air for “Hometown Hero,” threw elbows for “Country Sh–” and put their cell phones and lighters up for “The Vent.”

All in all Big K.R.I.T. exhibited a tremendous growth on stage. The MC/producer can now add show stopper to his already growing resume.
