The need for beauty companies to have faces that represent a variety of global women is vital. So it was awesome to hear that Elizabeth Arden has chosen Adeola Ariyo as their African Ambassador.
Ariyo hails from Lagos, Nigeria but is of Nigerian and Ghanaian decent. Signed to Boss Models Cape Town, she’s walked London Fashion Week several times and posed for Sport’s Illustrated.
ELLE South Africa reports:
With this appointment, beauty powerhouse Elizabeth Arden is growing its footprint in Africa. ‘Expanding into Africa is an exciting venture for our brand. It’s an opportunity to really celebrate African beauty,’ says Corne Nel, Managing Director of Elizabeth Arden in Africa.
Adeola follows in the footsteps of former Elizabeth Arden face, South African beauty Lerato Moloi, whose first fashion editorial was with ELLE. The South African beauty is also known for sparking international debate on the use of underweight models in the industry, as well as bringing to light the growing concern of African women to be thin. As the first black face of Elizabeth Arden, Lerato worked on dispelling the myth that UV protection is not essential for women of colour.
Look out for Ariyo in Elizabeth Arden’s foundation makeup, Visible Difference and Skin Illuminating product ads across the continent.
