Former Business Partner Sues Rohan Marley

Rohan Marley the son of late reggae legend Bob Marley is now facing a lawsuit for former business partner Shane Whittle.

Reports are that Whittle filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Marley stating that he stole his idea for the marketing of a brand of coffee. The suit alleges breach of contract, fraud, conspiracy and breach of fiduciary duty. According to Whittle he invested US $600,000 in the project and is now owed his share of its profits.

Whittle and Marley reportedly agreed in 2007 to pursue the plaintiffs’ idea to develop a brand of coffee for the Marley Coffee Venture. However Whittle argued that after the Marley Coffee became profitable, two of the companies who are being sued, Fifty-Six Hope Road and Hope Road Merchandising said they owned the rights to any variation of the Marley name.
