Jamaica lose first WI Under-17 match

Jamaica lost their first match in the West Indies Under-17 cricket competition on Sunday, going down to Windward Islands by 103 runs at Shaw Park, in Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaica were skittled out for 122 in reply to 225 for five by the Windwards in the competition’s fourth round.

Openers Ajae Gordon and Kashwayne Beale gave Jamaica an excellent start in their chase as they compiled 72 for the first wickets. But everything went awry for the Jamaicans after the wicket of Gordon in the 15th over, with only Dominic Samuels getting to double figures afterward.

Gordon made 45 with five fours and one six as Beale got to 30 with two fours.

Jonel Eugene was the destroyer of the innings, capturing five wickets for 22 runs from 9 overs with two maidens.

Earlier, Windwards got to a challenging total through of effort of Johann Jeremiah and Nick Elibox, who both scored a half century. Opener Jeremiah top scored with 84 not out with eight fours and one six, while Elibox propped up the last section of the innings with an exact 50 that had four fours and two sixes.
