US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to arrive in Barbados tonight for a one-day meeting tomorrow with Caribbean foreign ministers to discuss issues pertaining to mutual co-operation with a special focus on security and crime.

The meeting, which comes on the heels of the just-concluded General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) in Peru, is an initiative of President Barack Obama's administration and the suggested agenda largely reflects the concerns and priorities of Washington.

Protesters are planning to gather outside the White House to picket the law.

The American Civil Liberties Union is currently leading a court challenge against the law. Attorney General Eric Holder, who met with a delegation of police chiefs from Arizona and last...

Mr. Obama, addressing a plenary session of the 47-nation nuclear security conference he had convened here, told fellow leaders Tuesday morning that it was time “not simply to make pledges, but to make real progress for the security of our people.”

“All this, in turn, requires something else, something more fundamental,” Mr. Obama continued. “It requires a new...

Obama vs Golding: Jamaica loses
by Web Editor | Mar 11, 2010

I read where Barack Obama, president of the United States of America (USA), has designated Jamaica a narcotics transit country. The Obama administration is claiming that Jamaica is not serious about fighting transnational crime and is corrupt by not charging public officials. This is coupled with the undue delay in the extradition of Christopher Coke. And in the other corner, Bruce Golding has responded by claiming that the wiretaps were illegal.

The reality is that Jamaica has far more to lose than Obama or Golding. Ja...
