Jamaican reggae superstar Sizzla Konlonji’s song ‘Solid As A Rock’ has reportedly been sampled by the ‘King of Rap’ music Jay-Z for his new album “Magna Carta Holy Grail.”
Jay-Z’s song titled ‘Crown’ begins with Sizzla singing “They can’t keep a good man down, always keep a smile when they want me to frown, keep the vibes and I stood my ground they will never ever take my crown – who Jah bless I say no man curse”.
Although the song is over ten years old, its message is still strong in the rap community. In Jay-Z’s version of the song, he repeats “Crown” as his main hook throughout, with Sizzla’s voice in the background chanting, “They keep fighting me without a cause trying to make my life hard, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords giveth I reward”.
Jay-Z’s latest album effort was certified platinum on the first day of its release courtesy of a deal he inked with Samsung, who purchased the first one million copies.
During an interview recently he told reporters, “I like music and when people make good music I find it. I don’t listen to everything and I don’t care to listen to everything and I actually don’t want to listen to everything. So, if it makes it to me that mean you are doing something right.”
