Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian are facing accusations that they have defrauded hundreds who donated to their charity Cathy’s Kids. The charity, which was started in the name of Odom’s mother who passed away with cancer when he was only 12, seeks to provide opportunities for underprivileged youths and also to donate money for cancer research.
Records obtained by ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” indicate that none of the money collected actually went to cancer research. It was revealed that $1.3 million was used to fund two “elite” basketball teams, however the beneficiaries were reportedly children who were already been scouted by colleges and the NBA.
It is yet to be known how a further $900,000 was spent or where it is. According to the ESPN report, it was not able to track the whereabouts. Odom who was recently interviewed by producers from ESPN, brushed aside questions about the misallocated funds. He has maintained that most of the cash came from him despite evidence from both Lamar and Khloe Kardashian, which point to soliciting.
They have both denied any wrongdoings on their part saying, “not one penny went to help Lamar personally or any member of his family.”
The Cathy’s Kids charity had reportedly raised $2.2 million since its inception.
