Kranium will be releasing his debut album, Rumors, October 16 on Atlantic Records.
The 12-track set is produced by New York-based producers LMR Pro and Ricky Blaze.
Kranium spoke to the Jamaica Observer yesterday from New York about the project.
“There is a track on it for everyone. I am not the type to release a bunch of singles at once, but I think the timing is right for me to release an album. This way, I can showcase and introduce my versatility. This is one of the reasons why the album doesn’t have many collaborations,” the 24-year-old said.
Rumors includes Kranium’s breakthrough single Nobody Has to Know (remix). The song was an anthem in the summer of 2014 with hip hop superstar Drake performing it during his 2014 tour of Australia.
Rumors also includes Kranium’s follow- up single Lifestyle which went to number one on iTunes’ Top Reggae Songs Chart.
Kranium has no predictions for the set.
“Whenever I record, the aim is to always ensure that it’s of the highest quality but I am not the type who says that I am certain a track will top the charts or have any specific intentions for it. Whatever happens just happens. My job is to work a record,” he said.
Kranium (whose given name is Kemar Donaldson) is from Montego Bay. He relocated to the United States just over a decade ago.
Kranium is the nephew of singjay Screwdriver, best known for the 1988 hit song Sharon a Pregnant Yuh Pregnant.
