Miguel Signs With Lady Gaga’s Former Manager

Miguel has joined Atom Factory, the management company headed by Lady Gaga’s ex-manager, Troy Carter, reports Billboard.com. The “Adorn” singer was previously repped by management firm Red Light from where he split in mid-November.

Also joining the growing AF client roster — which includes John Legend, actress Priyanka Chopra, rapper K’Naan and violinist Lindsey Stirling — is John Mayer, who severed ties with his longtime manager Michael McDonald early last month.

Both deals were finalized in late December, sources say.

Snatching up the California-born crooner and Mayer are substantial feats for Carter, after a public falling out with Azealia Banks in 2012, and after he was dropped by Gaga just ahead of her November ARTPOP release.

Mother Monster parted ways with him over “creative differences,” and later chastised members of her team because ARTPOP was less commercially successful than previous efforts like Born This Way, which went platinum in a week. “Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions,” the 27-year-old wrote in part via her fan site LittleMonsters.com. “Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more.”

Carter has never addressed the Gaga situation. He may be too busy. In addition to Atom Factory, he owns investment firm AFSquare Ventures featuring over 50 companies including Rap Genius, transportation companies Uber and Lyft, as well as music streaming giant Spotify.
