You’d think that with the popularity of athletic wear and rage of women’s basketball, there’d be some major clothing collections tailored for female athletes. But to the surprise of many, there aren’t. Well, not until now that is. One major athletic apparel company is closing the gap between female basketball players and comfortable apparel.
Teaming up with a few WNBA players – Skylar Diggins, Elena Delle Donne and Chiney Ogwumike, just to name a few – Nike produced a range of women’s apparel that aims to provide a seamless fit and feel. With the help of the famous athletes, the collection includes must-have pieces like tailored pants, lightweight shorts, a mesh hoodie and contoured tops – which we’re sure will expand into more separates soon.
“We did a lot of focus groups with both high school and professional basketball players from across the country to make sure we were creating the right styles and incorporating the wants and needs for the female athlete,” said Chris Burke, Nike Basketball’s global apparel director, in a statement.
