President Obama Visits NYC Gap After Wage Increases

The Obamas love doing regular people stuff. You have to love that about them. And by “regular,” we mean shopping at Manhattan’s GAP store on Tuesday.
As a way to promote the company raising the minimum hourly wage standards for their employees, the POTUS stopped by the location to do a little shopping. “In his State of the Union address, the president called for businesses to raise workers’ wages,” read a statement from the White House. “Today the president will visit a Gap store to show his support for Gap Inc’s decision to increase wages for their US-based employees.”
With the help of sales associate, Susan Panariello, he was able to find a pink and striped sweaters for his daughters, Malia and Sasha. “I think the ladies will be impressed by my style sense,” he said about the choices.
“It’s not only good for them and their families, it’s also good for the entire economy,” he noted about the push. Ideally, he would like the minimum wage to go from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour. ”I want to congratulate the GAP for doing the right thing.”
