Reebok Drops Rick Ross From Campaign

The Miami based rapper, Rick Ross, has been dropped from Reebok’s sneaker campaign due to the artist’s controversial lyrics.

The song in question “U.O.E.N.O” is said to contain lyrics promoting rape. A line from the song reads, “I die over these Reeboks, you don’t even know it/ Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/I took her home and I enjoyed that. She ain’t even know it.”

Following the release of this song, UltraViolet, a Women’s organization, immediately organized a petition and protested outside of Reebok’s flagship location to demand that the shoe company drop the rapper from their campaign.

A source said, “Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand” the source continued, “Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.”

The shoe company is yet to release an official statement.
