Reports have surfaced that MMG rapper Rick Ross was the target of a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale on Monday morning. Officials in Florida confirmed that he was the targeted victim.
According to reports, the 37 year old was traveling with his girlfriend Shateria L. Moragne-El in his Rolls Royce when an unidentified gunman fired in the early hours of Monday morning. The shots caused the Miami native to lose control of the vehicle, crashing it into a building near the intersection of Southwest 15th Avenue and East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Some reports state that Ross’ car managed to avoid the gunfire. Other witness reports indicate that multiple shots were fired.
Ross celebrated his 37th birthday on Sunday. The rapper was spotted out partying with his crew in Club LIV in Miami. After grabbing a bite to eat with his girlfriend, he began the drive home. The local police have now classified the shooting incident as “an active and ongoing criminal investigation.”
A few weeks earlier, rumors speculated that Ross was forced to cancel some tour dates on his MMG tour after receiving death threats. Ross later brushed aside these rumors and said they occurred due to a promoter mishap.
