Tessa Thompson lands role in Thor: Ragnarok

Actress Tessa Thompson looks set to join the cast of Thor: Ragnarok in a leading role. There’s currently no word on who the actress will play, though Valkyrie has to be at least one fairly strong possibility.

Before appearing as a love interest in that Rocky sequel, Thompson made her presence felt in Selma and Indy movie Dear White People. She also recently joined HBO’s Westworld.

What We Do in the Shadows co-director Taika Waiti is taking the helm of Thor: Ragnarok, while it was recently revealed that Stephany Folsom has been hired to pen the script. Chris Hemsworth will obviously be reprising the role of Thor and Tom Hiddleston is expected to return as Loki, though there’s no word on who else might be coming back to the franchise.

Cate Blanchett has been cast in an undisclosed role, while Mark Ruffalo is set to take on a leading part as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, making this release a team-up movie of sorts.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently set to be released on November 3rd, next year, so stay tuned!
