The Dells Lead Singer Passes Away At Age 77

Just days after news broke on the passing of The Five Stairsteps singer Clarence Burke Jr. and R & B singer from The Dells Marvin Junior has also passed away. He was 77. Both men grew up in Chicago.

According to Marvin’s son his father had failing kidneys and a weak heart. The younger Junior confirmed that his father passed away at home on Wednesday surrounded by his family.

The Dells originally called the El-Rays were best known for their hit song “Oh What A Night” released in 1965. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it as #260 on their 500 Greatest Song of All Time list. The group was inducted in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

For almost 6 decades the group performed and recorded before calling it quits in 2009 due to various health concerns.
