Tom Ford is ditching the runway, and showing off his latest collection in a star-studded video starring none other than Mother Monster herself.
In an interview with WWD, Ford explained his decision to combine his two passions, fashion and filmmaking, for Spring 2016, by making a runway video to be released today at 1 p.m. CET on his website. “Instead of having a traditional show this season, I decided to try something new. I wanted to thinjk about how to present a collection in a cinematic way that was designed from its inception to be presented online.”
Joining other designers such as Burberry, who used snapchat to present collection before the runway, who embraced online platforms this fashion month.
Tne video opens with Lady Gaga, in a black tank top and underwear, gyrating on the dance, and then turns into a dance party with models dancing in a Soul Train-esque line to a Lady Gaga sung version of Chic’s “I Want Your Love.” The collection brings Ford’s signature sexy flair with metallic outerwear and leather miniskirts.
This is not the first time that Ford has strayed from a traditional Fashion Week. Last February, he showed off his collection in Los Angeles, the same week the Academy Awards were to air. It was also an effort to bring his filmmaking and designing endeavors together.
Ford is currently working on a second film called “Nocturnal Animals” starring Jake Gyllehnaal and Amy Adams.
