Tropical wave upgraded, as Earl forms in Caribbean


According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Earl has formed in the Caribbean Sea.

The National Hurricane Center was expected to update the Tropical Storm Earl’s status before noon, but as of 8 a.m. the wave was producing winds of 40 to 45 mph along with heavy rains over portions of Jamaica.

An Air Force plane was sent out on Tuesday to investigate the storm.

Earl has winds of up to 45 mph and is accompanied by heavy rain.

Earl is the fifth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season and appears to be on a track toward Central America.
